Dennis Lamont Miner 1913 – 2013
Dennis Lamont Miner, was born in Bishop Hill, Illinois, on Nov. 3, 1919, and died at his home in Edmonds, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 12, 2013.
He left Boeing in 1942 to train as a Naval aviator. He was commissioned Ensign in 1944, and served aboard the Carrier Hornet in the South Pacific.
Miner received a B.S. in two fields of engineering, and later did graduate study in Business Administration.
In 1953 he retired from the Navy as Lt. Commander.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel in Seattle and in Long Beach, CA, for 35 years. He lived most of his life in the Seattle area, moving to Edmonds in 2001.
In 1944, he married Frances Roberts of Edmonds, who survives him. He also leaves his three daughters: Maureen McLain, Colleen Stameshkin (David), and Laurie Cox (Mac); and six grandchildren: Anne, Elizabeth, Paul, Andrew, Thad, and Alex.
No funeral is planned. Memorials may be made to Edmonds Community College for his lifelong commitment to education.
