Cultural Access Fund Coalition open forum slated
On Saturday, Oct.12, at Edmonds Center for the Arts, the Cultural Access Fund (CAF) Coalition will host a discussion forum on legislation that will be proposed in the 2014 legislative session.
This forum from 10:30-11:30 a.m. will consist of a brief presentation on the current version of the CAF bill followed by a Q&A session.
The CAF Coalition invites supporters of the arts to attend, and to use this as an opportunity to ask any questions or share any concerns you may have. Please RSVP to the event by emailing Gillian Jones at email@example.com.
The Cultural Access Fund (CAF) effort was developed by a coalition of 35 cultural organizations in the Puget Sound region.
The legislation seeks authority from the state to put a measure on the ballot in any county to ask voters to approve a new public revenue source dedicated to increasing access to a variety of cultural experiences for students, families, and the general public.
The legislation has a special emphasis on arts education and transportation to cultural organizations by school groups.
The 2011 legislative effort failed, but since then many improvements have been made to the bill, and 2014 is the year the CAF Coalition intends to receive passage in the state legislature.
