Collision Investigation Update: Pedestrian Crossed Against Light

A pedestrian is in critical but stable condition after being struck by this car Thursday. Investigators believe the pedestrian was trying to cross the street on a red light.

Detectives believe that a pedestrian struck by a vehicle Thursday morning at the intersection of 164th Street SW and 36th Avenue W had crossed the street against the light.

The driver, a 48-year-old Edmonds man, entered the intersection with a green light when the pedestrian stepped into the street.

The pedestrian is a 26-year-old Lynnwood man who remains in critical but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.

The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. There was no sign of drugs or alcohol on the part of the driver of the car, nor is speed believed to be a factor in the incident.
