Coast Guard search in Edmonds comes up empty
After a thorough search, the U.S. Coast Guard called off a search off the Edmonds Marina Friday, Oct. 14, after someone had reportedly seen a person in the water.
The Coast Guard boat crew aboard a 45-foot response boat medium and a Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter searched for the area for three hours, Coast Guard spokesperson Petty Officer 2nd Class Ali Flockerzi said.
The search covered 31 miles.
Fire District 1 personnel were also on scene.
"We were dispatched about 3:20 p.m. for a report of a possible person in a wetsuit in distress near the marina," FD1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
"Marine 16 searched the area, but suspended the search around 4 p.m. after finding only debris and a seal in the area."
The Coast Guard is likely to suspend searching, Flockerzi said.
