Chuck's World a favorite column | Letter

Jul 03, 2014

Dear Chuck:

I feel I know you. I don’t ordinarily write to newspapers, but your column of June 12 inspired me [“Too close to home,” The Beacon, Chuck’s World, page 5, June 12].

I’m a mother of six, grandmother of 16 and great-grandmother of 17, so I am an old coot.

Two of my girls went to SPU, and one has taught at King’s Schools for 36 years.

Your tale of the shooting at the college was, to one, a tale of God’s great care of his children, your wife being one of them! God bless you both.

A crazy habit of mine is to save the best for last, the letters I open, the books I read, the food I eat.

Your column is the last thing I read in the Beacon. I’m 84 years old, and I know when I read quality, down-to-earth goodness in writing.

Thank you!
