Bunch of ‘funny money’ bills floods Hwy. 99
Within the past two weeks, the Edmonds Police Department has investigated numerous cases of counterfeit bills being passed at businesses along Hwy 99.
According to spokesman Sgt. Mark Marsh, the bills range from $5 bills to $100 bills and are of poor quality, according to Edmonds Police patrol officers who responded to the calls.
The businesses range from large retail grocery stores to fast food restaurants. Some of the bills were obtained from other merchants along Hwy. 99 in the course of regular business with the others being passed by customers at the various businesses, Sgt. Marsh said.
Edmonds police don’t currently have any suspects in these cases, but wanted the general public and businesses to be aware to safeguard against taking these counterfeit bills, he said.
The cases are still under investigation with copies of the reports being sent to the Secret Service.
