As the temperatures rise, Beach Camp at Sunset Bay opens its doors to the public for an afternoon of fun and excitement!

Beach Camp at Sunset Bay invites families, groups, and individuals to experience ocean sports and celebrate the start of this year’s camp season with a fun-filled open house from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 19.
Beach Camp welcomes Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling and the Edmonds’ Chamber of Commerce to commemorate Beach Camp at Sunset Bay’s acceptance into the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. Ribbon cutting ceremony starts promptly at 4:30 p.m. with entertainment and barbeque to follow.
The Edmonds community has been very supportive in the growth of the Beach Camp program, which combines more than a dozen ocean sport activities with an educational component of marine science and marine life photography/video, for students ages 10 to 17.
Beach Camp is designed to enhance student confidence and self-esteem with watersport activities accessible to all levels of experience and ability. The facility is also available for groups, corporations, and organizations.
The July 19, open house will give parents and students an opportunity to try out stand up paddle-boarding, kayaking, zip-lining, sailing, and more!
And once you’ve worked up an appetite with the various watersports, enjoy free barbequed hotdogs and snacks while watching the fun.
Learn about Beach Camp’s science-based curriculum developed by internationally known underwater photographer, educator, and filmmaker, Annie Crawley.
Discover Beach Camp’s sleepover program where student’s enjoy modern bunkhouse accommodations and experience a whole new level of fun and education that can only be experienced in the evenings, such as bioluminescence.
Get up close and personal with ocean creatures from the Puget Sound in Beach Camp’s very own touch tank and view amazing shallow water sea life with Beach Camp’s Aquanaut helmets. The Sound is filled with amazing creatures and our touch tank and Aquanauts provide a great way for students to interact with sea life in a positive way.
Beach Camp welcomes parents and students to visit the Sunset Bay wharf and experience a slice of the Beach Camp life. Meet camp counselors and see the vision Beach Camp’s leaders have for this very unique program at their July 19 open house.

About Beach Camp:
Beach Camp at Sunset Bay is the City of Edmonds Parks and Recreation Department’s premier ocean sports and marine science summer camp for students grades 5 through high school.
Beach Camp runs Monday through Fridays starting July 8, and offers both day and sleepover camp options, as well as counselor in training leadership development programs for other students. Beach Camp students realize their potential and unlock their dreams at Sunset Bay’s spectacular beaches and waterfront facility. Beach Camp fosters confidence and independence through more than a dozen ocean sport activities, which teach important life skills and create memories to last a lifetime.
The Sunset Bay Wharf is also available off-season and on summer weekends for groups, organizations, and corporate events.

Beach Camp Director Annie “Ocean Annie” Crawley has a lifelong commitment to ocean sports and youth involvement, access, and appreciation of marine resources.
Annie has spent almost two decades entertaining, instructing, and inspiring youths and families at oceanfront resorts throughout the world, and now calls Edmonds her home.
An internationally known marine life author, filmmaker, photographer, professional scuba instructor, and member of the Women’s Diving Hall of Fame, Annie brings her unique combination of ocean sports and marine science education to the Beach Camp’s premier sleepover and day camp programs.
