Ballyhoo Theatre cooks up 'The Spitfire Grill'
Director Shileah Corey, conductor Michael Corey and the Ballyhoo Theatre present “The Spitfire Grill” May 4-7 at The Phoenix Theatre, 23200 100th Ave W, Edmonds.
In this dramatic musical by James Valcq and Fred Alley, Percy Talbot has just been released from prison and is seeking a fresh start. Tearing a page from an old travel book, she makes her way to the small town of Gilead, Wisconsin.
The local sheriff, Joe Sutter, finds her a job at the Spitfire Grill and, through her healing, she helps to transform the town from one of despair to one of hope and new beginnings.
The music is based on the rural folk music of the Great Lakes and southern Appalachia.
The cast of nine actors are between the ages 14 and 18. Performances are 7 p.m. May 4-6 and 6 p.m. May 7. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door.
