Art by Karen Simonson on display at EAFF
The Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation is pleased to present the artwork of Edmonds artist Karen Simonson. Her mixed media paintings are on display in the Edmonds Arts Festival Museum now through mid December.
Born and raised in Western Washington, Simonson graduated from Seattle Pacific University in Business Administration “with the addition of as many art courses as possible.”
While working in Europe she explored art extensively. Upon her return to Seattle, her art education continued to grow, including a certificate in Drawing and Painting and a certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Washington.
During her study there, a fellow art student introduced her to master painter Alden Mason. He became her mentor and she was able to work with him as his studio assistant, seriously exploring her own art potential.
Her work has been shown annually across the state since 2008.
Simonsen says of her work, “I find much inspiration in nature and the cityscape around me although I think it is not always obvious in the paintings. Sometimes the inspiration is simply a feeling, a concept or a response to life event.”
The Edmonds Arts Festival Museum is located in the Frances Anderson Center, Main Entrance - 700 Main Street, Edmonds. Gallery Hours: Mon – Fri 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information call 425.771.1984.
