Arlene R. Anderson 1923 – 2012
Beloved wife and mother, Arlene R. Anderson, a long-time resident of Edmonds, Washington passed away on October 11, 2012, with her children at her bedside, following a long battle with cancer.
Born on April 3, 1923 in Chicago Illinois to parents Ray and Mary Hosack, Arlene’s family eventually settled in the Northwest. Arlene was a graduate of Quillayute High School and Columbus Hospital School of Nursing in Seattle. She was awarded her State of Washington nursing license in July of 1946 and began her nursing career in Seattle.
Arlene married her love, Orville Anderson, on May 29, 1952 and they remained devoted to and by each other’s side until Orville’s passing in April of 2011. The loss of her love and devoted partner of 58 years left a void in Arlene’s life that was impossible to fill. It’s a blessing that they are now joined again in Gods everlasting embrace.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Deborah Nicholson of Spokane, sons Douglas Anderson of Monroe and Donald Anderson of Bothell, daughter-in-law Lea Anderson of Bothell and grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan, Reagan and Colton and her sister Dolores Jackson of Port Angeles, WA. Arlene was a loving person who lived a full life and loved, appreciated and fought for every moment that she had on this earth. She will be missed immensely by her family and by those that were touched by her throughout her life.
A short graveside service is planned for 1pm on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Columbarium of the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery located at 820 15th St. SW, Edmonds WA 98020 where her remains will be placed next to those of her husband Orville. A reception for those attending will immediately follow at Faith Community Church located at 10220 238th St. SW, Edmonds WA 98020.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation would be appreciated.
