American Brewing wins Rookie of the Year awardThrough the combined efforts of Fallon, Waterman, and the ABC brewing team, the company raised over $11,000 for the American Heart Association
With collaboration, generosity, and skillful brewing, American Brewing Co. has earned itself the high honor of Rookie of the Year at the American Heart Association’s 2012 South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk.
This award is presented to first-time-fundraising companies that demonstrate an outstanding effort as a team in raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Walk.
In addition to serving on this year’s South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk Executive Leadership Team, ABC owner Neil Fallon (in collaboration with Aaron Artman of the Tacoma Rainiers and event chair for the South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk), organized special activities and a fundraising event exclusively to support the ABC Heart and Stroke Walk team.
The success of these endeavors earned ABC the aforementioned title and, more importantly, supported an important cause.
Julia Falvey, development director of the Heart and Stroke Walk, extended her thanks to ABC.
“[American Brewing Company] was an amazing 2012 Heart and Stroke Walk company team and their support made such a great impact on our fundraising efforts as well as our mission,” she said. “Money raised helps fund life-saving research, public education and awareness, professional training, public policy work, and consumer resources to live healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”
ABC market manager Ryan Waterman secured 17 restaurants to participate in the special fundraising event and each restaurant committed to donating proceeds from sales at the event to ABC’s Heart and Stroke Walk team.
“With the economy the way it is, it’s really amazing to see such generosity from small, local restaurants,” Waterman said. “I’m impressed with how they’ve volunteered to support and donate to such a great cause.”
Through the combined efforts of Fallon, Waterman, and the ABC brewing team, the company raised over $11,000 for the American Heart Association’s 2012 South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk.
